We started Bids Compare because at one time we found ourselves in need of a home
repair and we had little time to shop around. Our air conditioner broke, it was
the middle of August, and we live in Texas! All the service providers we talked
to knew we were in a bind and they bid accordingly.
Try as we could, we could not find an online resource to see if what we were being charged was fair or reasonable. We didn’t mind paying for repairs (that comes with home ownership) but we didn’t want to be taken advantage of either. This is where the idea of Bids Compare came about. We wanted a service that would show us local service provider bids by zip code; using the exact requirements of the job (i.e. An “apples to apples” comparison) and we wanted it to be fast, anonymous and above all, free.
In developing the site we also realized that not every search would return the results needed for every job, nor could we expect homeowners to wait until a new bid comes in - when something is broken, you need results fast! This is when came up with the idea for BidSaver™ our free service which at the click of a button sends your bid, anonymously, to a list of service providers in your area. The only responses you’ll get are from providers who can do the job for less.
